National Treasure: Book Of Secrets is the follow up to the box-office hit National Treasure and features Nicholas Cage as Ben Gates - the treasure hunter who, once again, sets out on an exhilarating, action-packed new global quest to unearth hidden history and treasures!
When a missing page from the diary of John Wilkes Booth surfaces, Ben's great-great grandfather is suddenly implicated as a key conspirator in Abraham Lincoln's death. Determined to prove his ancestor's innocence, Ben follows an international chain of clues that takes him on a chase from Paris to London and ultimately back to America. This journey leads Ben and his crew not only to surprising revelations - but to the trail of the world's most treasured secrets.

Nicolas Cage is off on another romp to discover treasure before the bad guys do. The story is strikingly similar to the first film, equally silly, or fun, depending how you look at it. The story is more implausible and has fewer twists than the first film. To make matters worse, it all falls a little flat at the end, with a rather unspectacular treasure and conclusion to the story. Having said that, all in all, it's a great film for the kids, but some adults are going to find it just to similar to the first film to keep their attention for the entire 90 minutes. I have given it four stars for the kids amongst us, but for adults I would only give it three.
This sequel to the original 2004 National Treasue is a better film and is far better paced. By the time the film has ended you will be treated to Nic Cage finding relics at Buckingham Palace, explosive diaries inside the library of congress, a pre-columbian temple underneath Mount Rushmore. Also a treasure map in the statue of liberty, he even manages to kidnapp the president!.
This is all very silly stuff, but ever so entertaining. The film even has a better cast than the original, now joining Nic Cage, John Voight, Harvey Keitel, Diane Kruger from the first film. We now get the excellent Ed Harris and Helen Mirren joining in the fun.
The film is alot zippier than the first, if no less preposterous. Just suspend your disbelief and sit back and enjoy this great rollercoaster ride.
Fantastic silly entertainment, a must see!
Wouldn't really give it a 5/5 as that would be reserved for amazing films:):) It has a good story, good action... not much more to say than what the rest have said. Good action adventure film to watch on a weekend with your mates or other half.
The film wasn't too bad, a real Indiana Jones/Tomb Raider wanna be. Maybe if I had the same passion about American History as our friends across the pond, I would have understood what all the fuss was about, but as I dont much care, that meant the main motivation of his quest was lost on me. All in all, not bad entertainment, but not a patch on Harrison or Angelina
It's an all-star cast but not an all-star film, in fact, it's only one star. Yes, it's that bad. The first National Treasure was great, but this has none of the excitement of its predecessor. The premise is ridiculous, the script is clunky, the comedy is non-existant and the finale seems to drag on for days.
We've seen it all before, there is nothing new to get excited about, it's predictable with a capital P. The only mildly amusing part I found was the mention of a US Coat of Arms, apparently 'an eagle holding a squirrel' - it was half an hour before I realised they actually said 'SCROLL' - the squirrel would have made it more interesting.
